Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) has unveiled Tracey MacArthur as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 15, 2024. Ms. MacArthur brings over 25 years of distinguished leadership experience in Ontario’s academic health sciences centers, focusing on safety, continuous improvement, academia, research, inclusive leadership, and team performance.
“Ms. MacArthur is a distinguished hospital executive with a strong track record of driving quality and research agendas at leading academic health sciences centres,” says Keith Monrose, chair of HHS’s board of directors. “We are confident that she will continue to inspire everyone at Hamilton Health Sciences to achieve our vision of best care for all.”
With a background deeply rooted in fostering collaboration, quality improvement, and research, Ms. MacArthur is poised to elevate HHS’s standing as a premier academic health sciences organization in Canada. She expresses enthusiasm about joining HHS and contributing to its mission of supporting a healthy community in the greater Hamilton region and beyond.

Ms. MacArthur’s extensive leadership roles include serving at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the University Health Network. Her broad expertise spans clinical operations, research, commercialization, health informatics, and quality improvement, showcasing her ability to navigate the multifaceted aspects of healthcare administration effectively.
With a Master of Science degree in Quality Improvement & Patient Safety, an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management, Ms. MacArthur brings a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to mentorship, particularly in supporting women in leadership roles and STEM careers.
