Joining the tech industry’s growing focus on healthcare, Salesforce unveils “Einstein Copilot,” an AI assistant designed to automate administrative tasks and reduce the burden on medical professionals. This focus on efficiency is crucial, with a McKinsey & Co. report estimating nearly a quarter of US healthcare spending goes towards administrative costs. Einstein Copilot tackles this challenge by automating workflows and freeing up valuable time for providers to focus on patient care.

Built into Salesforce’s CRM system, Einstein Copilot leverages a healthcare organization’s private data to deliver insights and complete tasks. Doctors can utilize the AI assistant to generate comprehensive patient summaries, locate in-network specialists, and automatically populate referrals and care plans. Care managers can leverage Einstein Copilot to track progress on standardized health assessments, all within their existing workflow.

Security and privacy are paramount in healthcare AI. To address this, Salesforce assures users that Einstein Copilot is expected to be HIPAA-compliant by summer 2024.

Real-world success stories are emerging. Baptist Health South Florida and HarmonyCares are using Salesforce solutions to personalize patient interactions and streamline workflows. HarmonyCares, an in-home healthcare provider, reports a 50% increase in self-scheduling efficiency since adopting Salesforce’s platform.

Public perception of AI in healthcare is mixed. While a recent survey indicates comfort with AI for tasks like scheduling appointments, a significant portion of people remain apprehensive about AI diagnoses.

This highlights the need for a balanced approach where AI empowers providers while maintaining human oversight in clinical decision-making. Salesforce’s Einstein Copilot represents a step forward, offering a secure and efficient AI assistant to ease administrative burdens and ultimately improve patient care.

Salesforce has a history in healthcare. The company launched its Health Cloud in 2015 to help providers manage patients. In 2022, they introduced Customer 360 for Health, a comprehensive offering that connects their existing solutions on a single platform for use in healthcare. This platform leverages real-time data and AI to automate manual processes, further streamlining workflows for providers.
