Kaiser Permanente announced a new partnership with Innovaccer, a leading healthcare AI platform, on Tuesday. This collaboration aims to improve Kaiser Permanente’s value-based care services by leveraging Innovaccer’s technology to aggregate patient data across various systems and care settings.

The rollout of Innovaccer’s AI platform and population health management solutions will begin this summer, serving Kaiser Permanente’s 650,000 members in Washington state. With successful implementation, Kaiser Permanente plans to expand the platform to include additional employees and facilities across other markets.

“With Innovaccer’s AI platform, Kaiser Permanente will be able to provide an EHR- and payer-agnostic platform to advance their value-based care expertise, technology and services,” said Abhinav Shashank, co-founder and CEO of Innovaccer, in a statement.

Kaiser Permanente has a well-established approach to integrating artificial intelligence into their care delivery system. Their philosophy emphasizes AI as a tool to empower clinicians and enhance the quality of care. This aligns with Kaiser Permanente’s Permanente Medical Group, which already utilizes AI through partnerships with companies like Nabla Copilot, a firm specializing in generative AI scribe tools.

“AI tools alone don’t save lives or improve the health of our members, they enable our physicians and care teams to provide high-quality, equitable care,” wrote Daniel Yang, Kaiser Permanente’s vice president of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, in a blog post published in March.

According to a press release, Innovaccer has a proven track record of success, generating over $1.5 billion in cumulative cost savings. Furthermore, Innovaccer was recently chosen to lead California’s Population Health Management Initiative, a project in which Kaiser Permanente is also a collaborator.
